TPO Roof Replacement | Albuquerque

October 1, 2025 by John Sanchez

This customer came to us looking for a replacement on their old tar and gravel roof. There were obvious signs of leaking and it was showing its age. Tar and Gravel roofing systems are notorious for mess, repair difficulty, and significant weight. The experts at Goodrich Roofing solved these issues with a brand new TPO roofing system to reduce weight on the deck and increase energy efficiency for the entire home.

The Problem

When our skilled estimator saw the dated tar and gravel system it clearly needed a refresh. Although it was a common roofing method years ago, it is not anymore because of extreme weight, poor insulation, and messy and costly repairs. They require constant upkeep to ensure that their protective qualities are maintained and that they are draining properly. Additionally, they are difficult to dispose of, leading to environmental concerns. Overall, tar and gravel roofs are difficult to main and outdated. This roof was in need of a major refresh.

Our Solution

Goodrich Roofing specializes in TPO installation. Our skilled team has extensive experience with TPO. Our experts always recommend TPO roofing for its lightweight durability and energy efficiency. This job entailed the removal of the old Tar and Gravel system, a tedious process. Our team efficiently and cleanly removed the tar and gravel, exposing the deck which appeared to have years of water damage. So, we removed the old, wet decking and installed new wood to maintain structural integrity.

Atop the newly reinforced deck, we secured lightweight fanfold insulation then installed the new TPO membrane. TPO must be terminated on a vertical surface and the top part of the roof did not have a suitable surface for that. Our solution was to make custom TPO metal edges to secure the membrane to, allowing for proper termination. Throughout the job, our team successfully adapted to challenges and abnormalities of this roof, leaving the homeowner with an ideal TPO roofing solution.

Materials

For this TPO job, our team used Mule Hide Standard TPO. We mechanically attached and fully adhered the membrane using a process called TPO welding. We used R-Tech Fanfold insulation as the base layer that the TPO was installed atop adding to the energy efficiency of the system.

Shingle Roofing | White Rock

September 26, 2025 by John Sanchez

Goodrich Roofing is not just in Albuquerque! While, most of our projects take place around Albuquerque, we work in other parts of the state as well. This White Rock homeowner came to us looking for an estimate on a new roof. What we found, two layers of outdated shingles. Working with our customer’s insurance provider, we were able to get a full new shingle roof for the home almost fully covered. See how Goodrich Roofing, experts in shingle roofing, took on this project!

The Problem

This outdated roof was showing its age when our sales team took a first look. Atop a dated deck, two layers of old shingles weighed down the whole system. It was clear that the home would benefit from an entire new system. On top of that, the Los Alamos inspection policy says that they must inspect the deck after shingle tear-off and again placing underlayment. This meant we had to stay on schedule to ensure everything was completed in time and not delay the inspectors.

During our first inspection after tearing off the existing roof, the inspector found that the existing deck was not up to code because of large gaps between the existing planks. This meant that our team was required to add a new deck to the existing roof.

Our Solution

Upon approval from our customer, we began this job with the tear off. Because of the outdated deck that needed to be replaced, the job required extra materials. We found and coordinated a drop-off with a source in Los Alamos, saving time and keeping the work underway. Our expert project management team seamlessly coordinated with the familiar Los Alamos building inspectors to ensure inspections were scheduled and completed in a timely manner.

Our team easily installed the new deck, then the underlayment atop that. The second inspection passed and we moved on to the shingle installation where we efficiently attached shingles and sealed penetrations, adding vents along the way. Venting preserves the life of a roof, filtering heat away. Finally, we finished with flashing and painting all the features to match, leaving our happy customer with a sturdy and beautiful new shingle roofing system.

Materials

The shingle used for this job is Owens Corning Duration in Amber. We completed the base layer with Owens Corning synthetic underlayment and Owens Corning Ice & Water Barrier for sensitive areas like valleys and penetrations. We added 14″ turbine vents to help heat leave the attic and further protect the roof.

Words from the homeowner

Our roofing work left our customer more than satisfied. They told us that upon completion, they sat in the back yard admiring the new roof and the thorough job our team had done cleaning up. At Goodrich Roofing, we care deeply about our customer needs and feel accomplished to hear amazing reviews from our customers.

Roof Replacement and Gutter Installation | Cedar Crest

September 24, 2025 by John Sanchez

This Cedar Crest home had serious hail damage from many storms over the years. Because of the extent of the damage, Goodrich Roofing was able to work with the home owner’s insurance company to cover the cost of a full re-roof. We also added effective seamless gutters to divert water from the roofing system. See how we completed this incredible roof replacement.

The Problem

When we first examined this roof, there were obvious signs of serious hail damage. For example, we saw many patches where the granules protecting the asphalt and fiberglass of the existing shingles were knocked off and metal features atop the roof showed dents. Additionally, the previous gutters were clogged with dry pine needles, drastically impacting drainage. Both of these problems can lead to serious issues for a homeowner without action.

Our Solution

The extent of the damage to this roof meant that the only viable solution was a complete shingle re-roof. Because the damage to the existing roof was so serious, the Goodrich Roofing sales team was able to work with the customer and their insurance company to get the cost of the roof replacement covered, drastically reducing costs for our client.

Our team began with the tear-off of the existing roof, cleaning off the deck beneath. We placed and secured synthetic underlayment, then placed the shingles on flat surfaces and on the ridges. Metal drip edge was added to the edges that would not be covered by gutters. Turtle vents were installed for ventilation. Next, we installed pipe jacks to seal penetrations around pipes and added flashing around the chimney. We painted all the roofing features to match. Finally, we installed 250 feet of 6″ seamless k-style gutters and added gutter guards to protect from buildup and simplify gutter cleaning.

Materials

Did you know that Goodrich Roofing is an Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor? For this job we used Owens Corning Duration shingles in Amber, Owens Corning RhinoRoof U20 Synthetic Underlayment, and Owens Corning WeatherLock Ice & Water Shield to enforce more sensitive areas like valleys, pipes, and vents. We used our own mobile gutter machine to create custom length seamless gutters, reducing gutter leaks and effectively redirecting water flow from the roofing system.

TPO Re-Roof | Albuquerque

September 22, 2025 by John Sanchez

This home, featuring a classical New Mexico flat roof look, had an outdated rolled roofing system that needed repair. We decided the best solution was a new TPO roofing system and gave this house a fresh look with a durable new roof.

The Problem

This home originally had an outdated roofing system that was beginning to show its age. Noticing issues, the homeowner called us to find a viable solution. The existing roof had been built atop two other layers, adding unnecessary weight to the system. There was no way of telling the condition of the deck beneath. And the existing cap sheet system had deteriorated. We decided that the most effective fix was a new TPO roofing system that would last this home years. The unusual shape of the roof made it a challenging project.

Our Solution

When we decided with the customer to do a re-roof, there were some questions about how much work was necessary. After tearing off the existing three layers, we were able to see the old deck and check its condition. This roof’s deck was comprised of wooden planks instead of the more modern OSB plywood that is commonly used for roofing decks now. Because the deck was still in good condition, we could insulate and install the TPO without replacing much of the deck. We mechanically attached the insulation and added crickets as needed to prevent pooling. We then installed and welded the TPO to seal off the system and complete the roof.

Materials

The base layer of this roofing system is Insulfoam insulation fanfold, a lightweight and effective way to maintain internal temperature. We used MuleHide Standard TPO in tan to reduct the contrast between the roof and the home’s stucco, creating a sleek, contemporary look with extreme durability.

Uptown Mall TPO Repair | Albuquerque

September 22, 2025 by John Sanchez

The seams of TPO can be a vulnerability when installed improperly. For this TPO repair job, seams of the existing TPO were falling apart leaving the building vulnerable to the elements. Our team acted quickly to repair the seam and reseal the roofing system, protecting it until its next re-roof.

The Problem

Our client came to us with concerns about his large commercial roof which was leaking during storms. We checked to determine the cause and it became clear that TPO seams were separated and allowing water to penetrate. This sort of issue could cause bigger problems in the future, and quick action was required. Additionally, the seal around the roof drains looked worn, another problem that needed a quick solution.

Our Solution

Our estimator came up with two solutions: a complete TPO re-roof to eliminate the issue for years to come or an effective TPO repair that would hold off the elements until it was time to worry about a new roof. The client opted to go with the latter, a quick and effective solution to immediately stop leaking without the commitment of an entire new roof. Because the damage was not too serious, this option also made sense to our team. Using a durable silicone roof patch, our team resealed the 25ft seams that had come apart and the damaged area around the drains.

Materials

Our team used Gaco Roof to create a seamless membrane to seal and repair the existing roof, effectively protecting against leaks and solving our client’s roofing problem.
